چکیده

Thrombosis can cause the occlusion of implantable medical devices, leading to rejection device and subsequent mortality. is primarily induced by red blood aggregation coagulation. The administration anticoagulant drugs generally used as a treatment avoid these processes. Adverse effects such bleeding in event an overdose, osteoporosis associated with prolonged use, hypersensitivity, hives have been reported. New strategies biomolecule surface functionalization recently studied overcome problems. In this study, we report novel coating composed polydopamine (PDA) proanthocyanidins (PACs) from blueberry extract short-term use devices silicone catheters. We showed that PDA formed stable films on surfaces PACs could be immobilized layers using laccase catalyst. PDA–PACs decreased hydrophilicity, increased roughness, plasma protein adsorption. were phosphate buffer saline (PBS) cell culture media. Furthermore, adsorption decreased. These are attributed changes membrane fluidity influences adhesion, steric hindrance layers, low proteins PAC layer.

Ruthenium-red-induced cell agglutination and surface glycoprotein and mucopolysaccharide.

Ruthenium red induces the agglutination of ascites hepatoma cells. The agglutination was inhibited by acidic polysaccharides but not by haptenic inhibitors of some plant agglutinins. The agglutination was also abolished by treatment of the cells with a low concentration of papain. Papain digestion causes a decrease in the number of microvilli on the cell surface and the release of carbohydrate-...

Factors influencing the agglutination of red blood cells, red blood cell stroma, and lymphocytes.

In a recent review of the literature (1,2), many of the problems dealing with cellular agglutination caused by ricin are presented and discussed. Although this phenomenon was first described in 1888 by Stilhnark, reactions involved in the agglutination of cells are poorly understood. The present report is concerned with factors which affect agglutination. Data are presented which show that eryt...

Surface Coating of Red Blood Cells with Monomethoxy poly(ethylene glycol) Activated with Two Different Reagents

Methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG) with molecular mass of 5 kDa activated with succinimidyl carbonate and cyanuric chloride, separately was covalently attached to human red blood cells (RBCs). Inhibition of agglutination by blood-type specific antisera (anti-D) was employed to evaluate the effect of the polymer coating. The remaining single cells after incubation with anti-D sera were cou...

An in-situ infection detection sensor coating for urinary catheters

We describe a novel infection-responsive coating for urinary catheters that provides a clear visual early warning of Proteus mirabilis infection and subsequent blockage. The crystalline biofilms of P. mirabilis can cause serious complications for patients undergoing long-term bladder catheterisation. Healthy urine is around pH 6, bacterial urease increases urine pH leading to the precipitation ...
